A dog was in the wrong place at the wrong time when he ended up getting his paw stuck in a trap set illegally by an unknown party. The animal protection team at Pima Animal Care receives a call from a good Samaritan who witnesses the dog barking with “something stuck in its leg.”

Officer Kristen Weigand rushes to the scene to help this poor dog. As she didn’t want to hurt the dog any more than he already was, she left the trap in her paw and gently carried him into her truck. She rushed him to the clinic, where veterinarians carefully removed the trap.

X-rays revealed that fortunately there were no broken bones, just a few cuts in the skin. The paw was treated and the dog is expected to make a full recovery.

Pima Animal Care is currently caring for the dog, now named ‘Trapper’, while he is on hold. It is not known whether he was wandering as lost or whether he belongs to anyone. They hope that the owner will come forward so that this poor puppy can be reunited with his family.
