In a particularly distressing incident, a 5-year-old boxer mix named Dory and her nine two-week-old puppies were abondomed in a church parking lot in Abilene, Texas. This heart-wrenching tale unfolded on April 26, and it was thanks to the swift intervention of Paw Angel Animal Rescue, based in Abilene, that their lives took a hopeful turn.


The distressing image of Dory and her pups quickly spread across social media, prompting a call for help from the local animal sanctuary. In an urgent plea for assistance, the shelter posted, “Dumped in the parking lot of a church in Abilene. All of the rescues are completely filled. Foster needed urgently. Situation is changing. Two Paw Angel volunteers are already on their way.”


Misty Boerger, one of the dedicated volunteers, recounted, “I saw the photo, and it just broke my heart, so I called Angel, and we went and rescued the dogs.” She couldn’t fathom how someone could abondom a mother and her two-week-old infants in such dire circumstances.

Angel Urban, who joined Boerger in rescuing the dogs, shorred the alarming discovery of Dory’s condition. “We noticed a number of open and draining sores on her,” Urban revealed. The gravity of the situation was compounded by the hartbraking necessity to euthanize one of Dory’s puppies, Peach, due to a throat tumor.

Despite the initial hardships they faced, Dory and her eight surviving puppies are now healthy and eagerly awaiting the opportunity to find loving forever homes. Paw Angel Animal Rescue announced that these precious pups are ready to embark on their new journeys. To mark this heartworrming milestone, the organization shorred a touching image of three puppies snuggled together and revealed they had a new kennel to call their own.

In their post, they expressed, “Eight puppies will begin their lives in a new 10-foot by 10-foot kennel. They’ll outgrow it in a few weeks, but for now, they’re snug and safe, out of direct heat, and we’ll adore them.”
